June 5, 2010 - BURLINGAME SADDLE CLUB FUNDRAISER TRAIL RIDE Come join us for a trail ride through the Flint Hills pastures of Kansas between Harveyville and Auburn. This is a beautiful pasture you won’t want to miss! Rain date is Saturday, June 11, 2009. TIME: The ride will start at 10 a.m. We’ll stop around noon for lunch, then continue the trail ride, arriving back at the trailers. Lunch will not be provided. (Check in will start at 8:00 a.m.) COST: $20 per rider. $10 for Burlingame Saddle Club members. This trail ride is limited to 100 riders. Pre-Registration is requested. Must furnish your own horse. June 5, 2010 - Spring Valley Leap of Faith Horseshow. The 5th Annual Horseshow will be held at the Fort Bissell Saddle Club arena in Phillipsburg. This is OPEN to ANYONE although I include some events that are at 4-H shows. Awards are given down through 5th place in each age group. Age groups are 8-11, 12-14, & 15-18. Judged classes included Showmanship, Bareback Horsemanship, Horsemanship, Trail, and Reining. Area Horse Owners, 4-H Kids, & Equine Enthusiasts, the KSU Vet School and Animal Science/Equine Facility is teaming up with Purina Mills and the area dealers for a HOW Event (Horse Owner Workshop) on this Saturday, June 19th, from 9:00am til 3:00pm beginning with registration at the Vet School Equine Receiving area beginning at 9:00 am. Tours presented by the house veterinarians will begin at 9:45 and run until noon at the Veterinary Hospital. October 7th, 2009 - Dr. Tom Warner of Kansas State University is hosting a meeting on Oct. 7 in Cottonwood Falls to discuss the establishment of a private horse trail system in the Kansas Flint Hills. He is bringing together private citizens, trail riding enthusiasts, land owners, legislators, Kansas Travel and Tourism representatives and the Convention and Visitors Bureaus from many of the 22 counties that make up the Flint Hills. This meeting will be an open discussion of the very positive opportunities this horse trail could provide for land owners, small business owners, entrepreneurs & horse enthusiasts.
